Intro to California Coastal Range Geology

Join me at SSU's beautiful Galbreath Preserve in southern Mendocino County for an intro to geology and exploration of the Franciscan Complex/Formation. Learn how the famous Franciscan formed deep beneath the ocean waves and came to be the California mountains due to plate tectonics, volcanism, landslides, earthquakes, and river erosion. For 6 weeks we will learn about the geologic history of California! In each geomorphic province of the state we will investigate the rocks and landscape to understand how the land assembled over millions of years. This is a hybrid class so you can join in -person on the SSU campus, via zoom, or watch the recordings.
